One of my teaching interests is listening. In 2014 I went to a PD workshop where my mind was blown – most of classroom listening is “testing” listening ability rather than “teaching” learners how to develop and improve their listening.
Since then I’ve been teaching connected speech, experimenting in my classrooms and during my Delta. I’m also a language learner and with Spanish I’ve been experiencing some of these listening problems myself.
On 8th March 2018, I’m presenting a webinar for language learners on “Why you’re struggling with listening and what to do about it” as part of the Women In Language web conference.
I’m interested in connecting with both:
- teachers interested in listening, particularly bottom-up processing; or who simply want to know more about teaching listening
- learners struggling with listening
